about 10 oktober

Why we started 10 oktober

We come from different generations, different backgrounds and different experiences. We do not always see the world the same way, and we do not always have the same answers.

But we share one conviction: we need to get better at seeing the human being, and real change begins when people truly meet.

Mental ill health affects us all. Directly, or through someone we love, work with or are responsible for.

Yet mental health is still far too often treated as something on the margins of life. Something we talk about only once a person can no longer cope.

Both of us, in different places and for different reasons, had been carrying the same question: why do we so often wait until people are really unwell before we start listening?

But the question was too important to wait.

We began to build, and together we turned the conversation into action. It became 10 oktober.

10 oktober does not belong to us. It is to be built by everyone who shares the conviction that we need to get better at seeing one another, listening to one another and meeting as human beings.

You do not need a diagnosis. You do not need to tell your story or know exactly what you want to change. You may come for yourself, for someone you love, for someone you miss, or for someone who cannot yet walk on their own.

We are different. That is not an obstacle. That is the whole point. Because real change does not begin with someone claiming to have all the answers. It begins with us seeing each other.
